Häagen-Dazs sells expensive ice cream relative to other ice cream brands Filipino people are familiar with; and as such, we expected excellent everything -- that means, including the service.

When we got there, we had a little "off experience" with the lady behind the cashier. But in any case, our
Häagen-Dazs experience wasn't ruined by that tiny incident, because we enjoyed what this place had to offer.

Contrary to what people know, Häagen-Dazs is an American brand -- as a matter of fact, it started out in New York by Reuben and Rose Mattus. Its commitment in making quality ice cream by putting in only the best ingredients is what makes it the ultimate luxury ice cream.

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to taste the new delectable desserts they are offering -- the Dark Chocolate Orange Brownie and the Waffle Dream.


1. Dark Chocolate Orange Brownie

Both Bong and Tiff like dark chocolate; so over-all, this dish was a winner. On one hand, Bong adores the authentic bitterness of chocolate, but with Tiff, she doesn't like it that much. She didn't expect the bitterness in her ice cream because she has been conditioned to think of ice cream as sweet.

We both like the dulce de leche part of the dish. We think that if you mixed them, you get a balance of both -- because the dulce de leche was really sweet, while the chocolate gives off a tangy bitterness. The brownies were as divine as the ice creams. It had nuts, and a hint of orange in it too. All in all, it was a great combination.


2. Waffle Dream with Macademia Nut and Coffee ice cream

We loved this one. We all dug in and finished it in 5 seconds -- well actually, it felt like just 5 seconds. The waffles included with this dish are so crispy and crunchy. The walls were thin and golden -- yummy.

The banana and the strawberries were fresh, and it complimented the waffles and ice cream.

You can't go wrong with the
almost-close-to-heaven desserts offered at Häagen-Dazs.

  2. It's just that, it's so expensive D:

    So the price versus yumminess played itself out.

    And I'm not one of those who can afford to have Haagen Daz for dessert every time I get a craving -- it'll burn a hole in my Hello Kitty wallet. (And we all know how much I love my Hello Kitty)

  5. Nice site! And your pics are gastronomic enough to crave for an ice cream. :P

    And true, it's REALLY expensive. But Cold Stone is much more expensive than Haagen, right?

  6. mentholguy, Yeah Cold Stone is really expensive, but I don't really understand how they can charge so much for you getting m&ms mixed into your ice cream on a marble slab, haha. not that i'm siding with haagen daz or anything.

  9. Check out Dolce Gelato in SM Mall of Asia.

    I personally think its much creamier then Haagen-Dazs and it is way cheaper.

    Its located in front of Bo's Coffee near the Music Hall.

    Try their Ferrero and Strawberries and Cream Gelato!
