Danne: Kaya

There are a few places where we always go back to eat, and the restaurant I'm about to feature is one of them: Kaya. Perhaps you have passed by any of its branches around the metro and have always wondered what's there to eat or if its food tastes good. I can tell you it's one of those you'd love to revisit.

Kaya's menu includes well-known Korean dishes. I am not really familiar with Korean cuisine, below are several staples we order every time we go back.

One of which is Pajeon (PhP 180), which is an onion leek pancake with squid. I especially love the outer corners of this!

The Dak Bulgogi (PhP 190), which is grilled spicy chicken fillet, is another must-try. This + sticky rice is actually already a meal for me!

They serve the Dak Bulgogi on a sizzling plate. The waiter cuts the chicken fillet into strips upon serving.

This, I believe is the Kalbi Jim (PhP 240). It's Korean beef stew.

I got to eat at Kaya's branch in Powerplant Mall. I believe they have several other stores.

Kaya's food is actually affordable and delicious. Yay for good food you'd love to eat again and again!

Danne: Murray & D'Vine

One late night I got the chance to stroll through Serendra with our dogs. Because we already ate dinner and we were looking for a place where we could eat midnight snack, we ended up having a meal at Murray & D'Vine Burgers, Sliders & Damn Good Wine.

Personally, the ambiance of the place is more like mature, sophisticated, gourmet. Perhaps a good place to eat with colleagues after a stressful workweek.

The unique thing about this resto is that they serve burgers and wine, which might be an odd combination for burger + soda diners. Nonetheless, the set-up works for their customers! They have gourmet burgers made from different kinds of meat such as the traditional chicken and beef, and the more unconventional fish, ostrich, turkey, among many others.

We didn't really get to try the wine but we were able to try their Chicken Sliders (PhP 375) and their Beef Burger Sliders (PhP 395). Sliders are 3 small burgers served in a skewer.

Sliders come with french fries in a cone-shaped dish, together with the cute little mini Heinz Tomato Ketchup.

I'm not really a wine drinker so I have yet to try the burger and wine combination. I'd love to go back to this place and try their unusual burgers!

I believe they're the only restaurant to serve their burgers with heart-shaped buns. You'd know where to go on a date or on Valentine's day!

Check out their official website here. I believe they also have free delivery with a minimum purchase of PhP 400.

Lezz eat!

Danne: Komrad: Mao's Hunan & Sichuan Kitchen

I think there's a reason why Chinese food is popular and a hit with many tummies. It really amazes me how Chinese cuisine have a very far and rich history in itself, and how many ways of traditional cooking there are.

I've grown up eating Chinese food, which makes me a little more knowledgeable of it more than any other existing cuisine. For me though, sometimes some dishes could become really generic especially with the many many Chinese food chains and restaurants around.

I'm glad to have tried Komrad: Mao's Hunan & Sichuan Kitchen which offers a different kind of Chinese food, with their Hunan & Sichuan style of cooking. Komrad is located at the Eastwood Mall in Libis, QC.

The price of the dishes are a little more expensive than those of the usual Chinese restaurants but I think the presentation, taste and ambience are worth the try.

The resto's 'theme' revolves around Mao Ze Dong and his other communist friends.

The first that arrived on the table are these huge dumplings. I believe they are called Steamed Hunan Cumin Dumplings (PhP 165). What I really liked about these is that they are really packed with meat.

I really love Sweet and Sour Pork, it reminds me so much of my childhood. Below is Chef Chen's Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork (PhP 288).

Another dish I've tried is the Steamed Fish Fillet with Blackbean Tapenade (PhP 288). The fillets are soft and tasty.

And their Spinach and Century Eggs (PhP 198) was something unique. It had this gelatinous texture.

Komrad also give a modern take to the dining experience, especially when it comes to ambience and interiors.

Personally, I think you can eat here on a Saturday night (with friends) or on Sunday lunch (with family), or on weekdays (with office mates).

吃!
